The Palace Information
The Palace is a collection of on-line communities where you can share common interests with others. In PalaceSpace, you participate as an avatar - a graphical representation of yourself. Chat, attend live events, join multi-player games, shop for merchandise, and more - all within a rich multimedia environment! Plus it's FAST! Even a 14.4k modem works fine...Visit The Palace Homepage for ALL the details of this exciting software. You can host your very own Palace with us starting at only $30.95 per month! We use state of the art equipment and multi T3 connections to the Internet. This means no "Lag" due to server bog-down when many people visit at once. Of course we cannot be responsible for Internet traffic elsewhere. Your biggest decision is how important your Palace address is. A place address consists of a domain name (or IP#) and a server port number. For example, a typical Palace address would be mav.net:9998, where "mav.net" is the domain name and "9998" is the server port. So, you must decide if having your own domain name, thus having a "unique" Palace address, is important to you. Also, you must decide how important having the default 9998 port is to you. If having a unique domain name and the 9998 port is important to you, read about our Virtual Domain accounts. If not, look into our less expensive SubDomain account.
InstantPalace is the Palace user software implemented as a Java applet. This means that instead of requiring users to download and install a separate piece of software, you can place InstantPalace directly in a web page and users who connect there can run it automatically. This new and transparent method of distributing the Palace software can dramatically increase the ability for server operators to bring people into their Palaces. Basically, if you host your palace using a Virtual Domain account, we can guarantee you the default port number 9998, if you want it. If you choose to host using a SubDomain account, we cannot guarantee any particular port number will be available. You may request one and we'll let you know if it's available or not. Just visit our on-line ordering section and place an order for either our SubDomain or Virtual Domain accounts. Don't be confused, you're actually getting a full web hosting account that can serve web pages, run CGI programs, etc., not just The Palace!
