-> ARTICLE #1: Miva Virtual Machine and Miva Merchant Upgrades =

We have made significant progress in installing and testing the
new Miva Virtual Machine software. This software is required to
run the newest versions of Miva Merchant (versions 4.14 and
above).

Several customers are now using the new Miva Merchant v4.16
successfully.

We would like to slowly upgrade all of our Miva Merchant users.
There are several issues to deal with when upgrading.

1. Versions of Miva Merchant lower than 4.14 use the .mv file
extension. Version 4.14 and higher use the .mvc file extension.
After an upgrade to the newer version you will have to update
any existing static links you have, for example links from your
home page to your store.

2. If you have 3rd party modules (ones that you downloaded or
purchased and installed that did not come with Miva Merchant by
default), then you'll have to contact the original developers
or those modules to get upgrades. These developers will be able
to provide you with "compiled" versions of their modules that
will work this new version of Miva Merchant. Once you have
obtained all of the updates for your existing modules (including
OpenUI if you use that), then contact us to schedule an upgrade.

3. If you do not use any 3rd party modules, the upgrade is very
easy. Contact us to schedule an upgrade.

4. If your current version of Miva Merchant is 4.0 or higher,
you are eligible for a free upgrade to the newest version of
Miva Merchant.

5. If your current version of Miva Merchant is lower than 4.0
you may still be eligible for a free upgrade, but it is likely
you will need to pay a fee to upgrade. This fee is for the
purchase of an upgrade license from Miva Corporation.
