-> ARTICLE #1: New Recommended Downloads =======================
---> Relevant for ALL WSO customers ============================
================================================================

Welcome to 1999! Enough wasting time... lets get to business.

We've added a new recommended download to our Cool 'Net
Downloads web page at:

http://www.wso.net/downloads.htm

BK ReplaceEm is a not only a fantastic search and replace
utility, but it is FREE. Yep, freeware, not shareware. A utility
like this is indispensable when doing hand HTML coding to change
every instance of a text string in multiple files to something
else. Check this one out.

We've also checked out all of the links on the downloads page
and made sure they are still correct, or made any corrections
necessary.

Hey, don't forget about our WSO Referral Program that rewards
you for recommending WSO web hostinhg to others. Check it out
at:

http://www.wso.net/referral.htm

Also note our new account type, Commerce Plus, a super value for
anybody looking to setup an on-line store:

As always, drop us a note if you have any questions or comments.

================================================================
-> ARTICLE #2: Stuck E-Mail? Here's What to Do =================
---> Relevant NV, BC, VD, CP Account Types =====================
================================================================

If you think you may have mail "stuck" on the server that you
can not download, then read on. All your mail is stored in a
file on the server that is owned by you and is readable and
writable only by you. For example, if your account username
(login name) is 'meggan' your mail file would be here:

/var/mail/meggan

You can use an FTP program to download this file and check it
out, or you can delete it and clear out the mail that is stuck
there, a new file will be created next time you get mail. Stuck
mail is fairly common and is nothing to be alarmed about. You
may have this problem more often if you receive many attachments
or if your data transmission is frequently interrupted while
receiving your mail.

You may not even realize you have stuck mail which can lead to
wasted server space. To check if you do, follow these steps:

1. Check your mail with a program like Eudora.
2. Connect to your account via FTP (instructions elsewhere in
   Tech Support area).
3. Press the Change Directory button (ChgDir) on the server side
   of the split screen.
4. Enter '/var/mail', without the quotes.

Find your username in the list and look at the size of the file.
If it is zero bytes then you do not have any waiting or stuck
mail. If it is not zero bytes check your mail again with Eudora
or another mail program. Go back and press the Refresh button in
WS_FTP and check your mail file size again. If it is now zero
bytes then you do not have any stuck mail. If it is not zero
bytes then you probably have some stuck mail that you may or
may not have already read.

Sometimes mail that downloads to your e-mail program does not
get properly erased from the sever, thus it appears you have
un-read mail, but really it is just un-erased mail. To make
sure, change your FTP program to ASCII mode (Click the ASCII
radio button in WS_FTP and uncheck Auto). Then download your
mail file. Once downloaded, open it in a text editor like
Notepad, or WordPad if it will not fit into Notepad.

You can then examine the contents to see if it is anything you
need to keep. If not, simply go back to WS_FTP, highlight your
mail file on the server side and press the Delete button. You
may want to check your mail again just before you do this to
ensure you have not gotten more retrievable mail in the
meantime.

When new mail arrives, a new mail file will be created.

-> ARTICLE #3: New "Digital Collection" Counters Available =====
---> Relevant for ALL accounts =================================
================================================================

Everybody loves a cool counter. Well, starting this month we are
going to be introducing a new set of available counters each
month. This months set is the "Digital Collection". Samples can
be found here:

http://www.wso.net/counters_digital.htm

Full documentation on how to use these counters appears in the
Tech Support area of the WSO SupportCenter:

http://www.wso.net/support.htm

Look under the Available CGI's section for "Graphical Hit
Counters". Information on how to add one to your web pages
is there.

The main thing to remember is that you have to set a unique
name using the 'df' parameter and you can choose a counter type
using the 'dd' parameter. The 'dd' code needed for each counter
is listed below each counter on the sample page.

You'll also notice that some sample counters show an AM & PM
graphic. This means you can use that counter with a clock,
similar to the one at the bottom of our home page:

http://www.wso.net

We've added more examples to the WSO SupportCenter counters
area, so check it out if you are confused at all. Or drop us a
note and we can help you out.

Have fun!
